WILD.

2015-09-07, at 13:05:47
In case you happen to be a fan of Troye Sivan,
you probably already know this, but if you're not - Troye recently released his second EP!
It's titled "WILD", and it's just as good as (if not even slightly better than) TRXYE.
It is, in fact, so good that people like Taylor Swift and Adam Lambert have even tweeted praise for it!

Personally, I'm so very proud of Troye for being so open in his writing. His music is regular pop music, but with the pronoun "him" instead of "her", just as it should be. Troye doesn't write music to please anyone else, he writes music for himself, music that he can really stand for. I like that about him.

Have a look at the music video for the title track:

Love Who Loves You Back

2014-10-06, at 22:00:18
I feel like I only post Music Mondays nowadays,
but I always discover great music during the week that I just have to write about on Mondays... and then I forget about it. That's about the most exciting thing that happens during my weeks too, otherwise I'm just studying and I've also recently started filling out my uni application.

One of the biggest news in the music industry right now
is the fact that Tokio Hotel have released their new album, Kings of Suburbia (which was released on the third of October), and thus they have made their official comeback. I was a bit sceptical at first, I didn't think I'd like their music (which was a belief based solely on the fact that they look different now than they did when I was still their biggest fangirl). Turns out - I absolutely love their new album! Their new sound is drastically different to how they used to sound, but I'm not even going to try to describe which genre their music belongs to.

I'm not at all ashamed to admit that I'm really glad that they're back.
The 13-year-old Melody would probably be squealing from joy right now.

My favourite song from their album is definitely Love Who Loves You Back,
I've had it on repeat since it was released on Spotify. It also happens to be one of the singles they released before the album was released, which means it even has a fabulous music video. I mean, just look at this! Unf!

Some of my other favourite songs from the album are e.g. Masquerade, Girl Got A Gun (although that one takes a bit of getting used to), Invaded and The Heart Get No Sleep.

If you want to listen to the album on Spotify,
you can do so >here<.

I'll be the dawn on your worst night

2014-09-01, at 22:05:29
I've been listening to the The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack a lot since I saw the film,
and there's one simple reason for that: the soundtrack is pure perfection.
There's a song on there for (well, at least almost) everyone, and there's a song for (again, at least almost) every mood. There are both upbeat songs to encourage and inspire you and more mellow songs for when you're feeling a bit blue. Or you feel like you just need a good sob.

One of the songs I like epecially much is One Republic's What You Wanted,
it's also one of the songs in the trailer, and it's so very romantic! I think it describes Hazel and Gus' relationship perfectly.

"I'll find the places where you hide
I'll be the dawn on your worst night
The only thing left that I like
Yeah I would kill for you, that's right"

Ansel Elgort a.k.a Ansolo

2014-08-25, at 19:48:25

Lately (especially after watching The Fault In Our Stars) I've fallen head over heels for Ansel Elgort,
who plays Augustus Waters in TFIOS. I'd seen him talk a bit about his music project on Instagram,
so after a bit of stalking I managed to find his soundcloud and Spotify accounts.
At first, I was a bit sceptical towards his music, because house (which, apparently, is what he makes and remixes... I actually have no clue whether that's correct or not) isn't exactly something I listen to on a regular basis, but much to my surprise, I actually love his music!

It's perfect to just have on in the background,
while you're studying, cleaning, chilling et.c. It's also perfect to play during a one-man dance party in your room when you're feeling a bit silly. Unfortunately, there aren't very many songs out yet, but the ones that have been released are amazing, and it's almost impossible to get tired of listening to them.

/I couldn't choose just one favourite song so I'm posting all of them/

If you want to check Ansel out or follow him on Spotify, you can do so here:

Bring colour to my skies.

2014-07-28, at 10:27:29
Troye Sivan recently released his first single Happy Little Pill,
which will also be featured on his EP that comes out in August. Like the rest of his fanbase, I'm so very proud of him for taking this step and finally making his own EP. Troye is clearly very talented, and Happy Little Pill has already become a huge success.
I've had the song on repeat since he released it, now I just need it on Spotify too!

Fancy.

2014-05-19, at 20:57:29
The Australian singer Iggy Azalea's song Fancy
is predicted to become this year's greatest summer song, even though a lot of people really hate it.
I must admit that it's one of those songs that you kind of hate when you listen to it for the first time,
but as you're forced to listen to it on the radio et.c. it really grows on you (as long as you don't take yourself too seriously).
I also love that the music video is a parody of Clueless, one of the most iconic teen movies ever made!

Someday I'll be Saturday Night.

2014-04-28, at 18:32:07
The Belgian people left early last morning,
and I've been thrown right back into reality with the massive load of schoolwork that comes along with it.
I'm listening to some classic, wonderful, amazing Bon Jovi to cheer myself up, though.
This feels like the perfect roadtrip song!

We fell in love as the leaves turned brown.

2014-03-17, at 18:21:37

Good music is a must while driving,
and the channel with the best music in Finland is called "Loop".
Unfortunately, they always seem to time their 5 minute commercials for when I'm driving to and from school.
When they actually play music, though, this is a song that they play a lot, and that I've fallen completely in
love with.

I'll try to write another (proper) blog post later tonight.

So if I lose my head tonight.

2014-02-03, at 19:23:48

A few months ago a guy called Elyar Fox liked a picture of mine on Instagram.
I thought he was cute, so I started following him. At the time, I had no idea he makes music or that he's apparently semi-famous
It wasn't until a week or two ago that my friend showed me his song "Do It All Over Again" on Spotify,
and I realised that I recognised him.
Now, I can't stop listening to the song, it's so catchy! :)

Oh, What a Night.

2014-01-27, at 10:41:00

I watched Sherlock with my mum yesterday,
since "The Sign of Three" (episode 2 of season 3) was on TV.
It's definitely my favourite Sherlock episode, and I'm absolutely in love with the music in it.
"December, 1969 [Oh What A Night]" if featured at the end of the episode.
I won't spoil anything by describing the scene, but I fell so hard for the song.

I can't quite put my finger on why I love it so much,
it might be because it's about love. It might be the beat. It might be because it's old-school. It might be because it's amazing to dance to.
(Joke of the week. I don't dance.)
Or it might just be because it feels like a real feel-good song.

Anyway, whatever the reason is, this is what's went on in my bedroom for the majority of last night:

And before you say anything: NO. That's not dancing. That's just fooling around. :)

Oh, what a night
Why'd it take so long to see the light?
Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right
What a lady, what a night

And tell me some things last.

2014-01-06, at 15:41:57
Tom Odell has been one of my favourite artists for quite a while now,
it's clear to anyone who listens that he's actually put his very heart and soul into all of his songs.
I find his music quite easy to relate to, and I don't doubt others do as well.

His accent is stunning too!

Take my mind
And take my pain
Like an empty bottle takes the rain
And heal, heal, heal, heal

And tell me some things last,
And tell me some things last

We Don't Give A F*ck.

2014-01-02, at 16:47:56

Sam Pepper and Maz released a new music video a while ago,
and I'm thoroughly loving it! It's much better than "White Girls", their first single,
and I feel like WDGAF has a nice message.
Sam and Maz have both worked so hard to get to where they are right now,
they're both very dedicated youtubers and they've even continued uploading videos (almost) as usual despite being on tour.

Sam and Maz have another music video coming up too, and although I wish Maz would sing/rap a bit more in their songs, I've really enjoyed their music so far and I wish they'd continue making more!

All Of Me.

2013-12-03, at 22:25:02

Hola chicas,
I haven't been able to update today because the whole second year of sixth form went to Helsinki today.
We went to a study fair and then we visited a school called Arcada, but I'll tell you more about that tomorrow. :)

I've had All Of Me by John Legend on repeat on my phone all day today. Patrick showed me this version with
Lindsey Stirling (since he's such a Lindsey Stirling fanboy ;)) yesterday, and I fell completely!
I really want to make a cover of it, because it's such a beautiful song, but I'd need someone who can play the piano, and proper equipment to be able to record it properly, so yeah no...

You're my downfall, you're my muse
My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues
I can't stop singing, it's ringing, in my head for you.

500 Miles.

2013-11-18, at 16:21:19

I needed some cheering up this gloomy Monday,
the driving lesson didn't go that well (don't worry, I didn't run over anyone or anything), but we did much more advanced stuff this time than we did last time so of course it didn't go as smoothly as last time.
I stumbled across this song on Tumblr, and admit it - it makes you a thousand times happier!
I first heard it in How I Met Your Mother a few years ago, and I actually fell in love with it right from the beginning. I can understand why some people can't stand it, though. :)

Horns and Halos.

2013-11-16, at 10:15:54

I heard this song for the first time on the glam rock cruise last Saturday,
when Jussi69 (from The 69 Eyes) played it while he was DJing before Reckless Love came on stage.
I immediately heard that it was Michael Monroe's song, because he has this very distinct style and unique voice, that I absolutely love.
I've been in love with the song ever since!

I have to go to the children's even we're hosting now, and I'm spending my whole day painting on children's faces there, so you probably won't hear from me before tonight.
Have an amazing Saturday!

Post-cruise depression.

2013-11-12, at 09:34:58

I got my own cabin during the cruise last weekend - luxurious!

Yello everyone,
I still can't get over how fudging amazing Reckless Love were. I can't stop listening to their music,
it's the perfect party music, it makes you happy and excited!
Being back in school and back living my usual life feels terribly boring now, it's in times like these that I wish I had a time-machine.

Olli's such an amazing singer! (They're all extremely talented <3)

Reckless Love @ Viking Grace.

2013-11-10, at 21:25:23

Like I said, I didn't snap very many pictures,
because I wanted to be completely in the moment. These are the only two decent pictures that I got.
I'm not quite sure on how long they played, my guess is just over an hour, but it felt like five minutes.
This has truly, genuinely been the best weekend of my entire life, and I can't wait until I get to see them live again sometime. They're such an amazing live-band! <3

I'm completely knackered right now, though, because I didn't sleep last night.
Good night lovelies!

Glam Rock Cruise.

2013-11-09, at 15:02:52

The reason I've been so excited for today,
is the glam rock cruise on Viking Grace. Reckless Love, and a couple other bands are playing there tonight,
and since Reckless Love is one of my favourite bands, I decided I'm going. And dad didn't really have a say in it, haha. ;) Nah but he was OK with it, so once again: The perks of having a dad that works at Viking Line.

Ed Sheeran - I See Fire.

2013-11-08, at 21:20:32

Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Ed Sheeran recently released a new song for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,
and I'm pretty sure I've just died and gone to heaven. As most of you probably know, I'm a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, he's my ginger Jesus and his music never fails to move me emotionally.
This, though, is better than anything he's ever done. He truly has the voice of an angel, and if I could marry his voice, I would!
The lyrics are also so fitting for The Hobbit, and there's honestly nothing negative anyone could say about this song.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Desolation of Smaug even more now!

One Direction - Story of My Life.

2013-11-03, at 18:18:01

Written on these walls are the colours that I can't change
Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage
One Direction released their new music video today,
"Story of My Life" and I actually really like it. It's just my kind of music - with guitars, soft voices and lots of glorious harmonies. And the lyrics... oh the lyrics! *swoon*
It's a bit heartbreak-y, just the way I like it (and need it) right now. I can't deal with overly preppy songs when I'm in this mood. I can feel this healing the cracks in my heart, though.
There's nothing better than music when you're down!

The video's nicely made too, I like the "flashbacks" to when they were young.
For some reason, I really like watching them working with the photographs. They look so concentrated and gorgeous!

I'm going to keep it on replay while I try to finish a few presentations for school tonight.

What do you think? Do you like Story of My Life? :)
