The theme of this contest is to photograph something you love, and I, of course, chose a photo of my dear Whiskey. He's the apple of my eye, and words can't describe how much I love this little dork. <3

The winner of the contest receives 200 SEK to shop at Idiwa for.
You can get to the contest by clicking >here< or any of the pictures above.
If I won, I'd use the check to buy >this<, >this< and >this<.

Proud to be ginger.

2013-03-30, at 21:13:59

When I was about to dye my hair ginger, I was afraid that the colour wouldn't suit me. I mean, I know that bright red suits me, but that didn't guarantee that ginger would suit me.

It took me about two weeks before I stopped scaring the crap out of myself every time I saw myself in a mirror, but I can now say that I love my ginger hair. It's also a lot easier to take care of than bright red hair, since you don't have to dye it as often and it doesn't leak as much colour.

Happy Mel is happy!

No post on Sundays.

2013-03-30, at 15:59:17
To honour the memory of Richard Griffith, all Harry Potter pages on Facebook have agreed not to post anything this  Sunday, because, as you know, there's "No post on Sundays." I've decided to do the same thing on my blog, which means you won't be hearing anything from me tomorrow.

I'm still going to comment on your blogs and answer comments though, I just won't post anything tomorrow.

Sooo, this is Maz, the youtuber I was fangirling about yesterday. He can be quite vulgar and expressive, and he seems so confident, but at the end of every video when he says that he loves his viewers, and has this silly (cute) expression, it just makes your heart melt.
He almost never wears a shirt in his videos, and if he does, it just seems wrong. Being shirtless is just his thing. And most female viewers find it quite distracting. The white spot on his chin is some kind of pigmentation-thingy he got when he was young, and he was so insecure about it that he used to wear make-up over it when he went to school. Now he uses it as his slogan instead, "The guy with the white chin."
The most common comment he gets is probably "How is your phone not broken yet?!" because in almost every video, he throws it onto the floor/the wall. And it's an iPhone. The funny thing is that when his Blackberry broke, he blamed his viewers, because he had given out his number a few days earlier which apparently lead to so many people calling him that his phone broke. We all know it was just because he threw it onto the floor all the time. ;)
Here's a video of him doing impressions, which he's really quite good at. The Bane impression at 3:47 sounds frighteningly much like Bane.
Oh and, did I mention, he knows Liam from One Direction. ;) Because they're both from Wolverhampton et.c.

Richar Griffiths died in his sleep today, on March 29, due to complications after a heart surgery. He was an amazing actor and did a great job as Vernon in Harry Potter.

What really saddens me though, is that he's just one of the first of many HP-actors to go. I can't even imagine what it'll feel like when J.K.Rowling herself dies. :(

5 months together with this wonderful man today,
but it feels like we've been together forever.
"The fight for you is all I've ever known" fits me perfectly, because I've been in love with him for three years now, and I was so sure that I'd never be able to call him mine.
But I've been able to do just that for 5 months now, and will continue to do so forever. <3

Yesterday E and I were arguing about this picture, because E thinks he's ugly as fudge and I think he's gorgeous! I mean, sure, he has certainly looked better, but this is an enormous improvement from when he was sporting his blue hair and awful beard...

Both E and I used to be complete Tokio Hotel fans a few years ago, and Bill was soooo drool-worthy at the time, even more so when he got his mohawk. Yeh, sure, he looked a bit androgynous back then, but he was sooooo beautiful!

Wrote a 4,5 pages long essay about factors that determine the size of a population, which was actually a lot easier than I thought it'd be.
Tomorrow in school, I'm going to write an essay about the Vatican City. My research about the Vatican City is going soooo slowly, and I really don't have any inspiration. I actually made the collage above to try to at least get a tiny spark of inspiration. I just want to get at least an 8 and everything will be swell. I have a feeling our presentation didn't go very well either so.

I know I should get a 10, to keep my grades up, but let's face it... That's not going to happen, is it?

Love is Love.

2013-03-27, at 10:38:27
In November 2008, the California Proposition 8 was passed in California, which means that you're only allowed to marry people of the opposite sex, which means gay marriage is illegal in California.
In 1996, the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA for short) law was signed by Bill Clinton, which means that the states of America don't have to consider gay marriage legal, and that they don't have to consider legal gay marriages in other states legal in their state. It also denies those lawfully-married same-sex couples in the states which allow same-sex marriage from receiving the more than 1,138 federal rights, benefits and protections based on marital status.

So what do these laws have to do with the picture?
On Tuesday the United States Supreme Court heard the opening arguments challenging California's Proposition 8, and on Wednesday the court hears arguments on the Federal Defense of Marriage Act.

The equal sign with the red background symbolizes the fight for equal - not special - rights and protections under the law. The background's red because red symbolizes eternal hope of all human beings, the hope of finding love and being able to spend your life with that person, fully recognized under the law.
I've chosen to use this symbol as my Facebook profile picture, to show my support to those who are being treated unfairly in America. Love is love, and we're all human. It shouldn't matter who we marry.

Someday, we won't be "straight" or "gay" anymore, we'll just be "in love."

I was planning on going to bed early last night, but Jack and Finn kind of ruined that plan, because they were broadcasting live from New York. They were live for about an hour, and I smiled like a complete goof throughout the hour.

I also tried to get them to reply to my tweet, where I asked them to send their fans a cyberhug, but the #askjackandfinn tag was completely clogged with tweets during their broadcast.
Then things may or may not have turned a bit fishy, when Finn asked the fans to take snapshots of Jack and photoshop nipples onto his eyes, and then post the pictures on Tumblr... Cheeky boy. :')

Finn standing in the shower, in front of the window: Then, in the morning, I can be like "Hello New York, I'M NAKED!"

Crashdïet - Cocaine Cowboys (Official Music Video).

2013-03-18, at 06:19:07
Crashdïet used to be my favourite band about... 3-4 years ago (has it really been that long?!), but ever since Simon came into the picture, they've kind of lost their charm.

The Cocaine Cowboys video is their latest music video, and, well... I don't really know what to think of the music. You can hear that a lot of effort's been put into this, and I like their sound. Martin's a proper guitar-god as usual, and Simon's voice fits this song. All of the violence in the video looks very fake though, and the whole video looks a bit... cliché.

The boys (well, men...) are all looking good though, especially Martin, who I had a thing for back then, haha! Nah, but it seems like he want back to his black hair after all? He dyed it red at some point last Autumn, and it was aaaawful. :(
Something I still don't get, though, is how the hell Simon can see anything with his mohawk like that. I mean, if I were him, I would've bumped into dozens of walls and walked into dozens of people already.

An old picture.
Good morning lovelies! I just woke up about an hour and a half ago, after staying up until 3 a.m. I didn't see any Northern Lights, but I was kind of expecting that. I was going to start working on my religion studies project now, because my inspiration's always at its best a while after I wake up, but my dad wants me to go the store so I have to get dressed and proper now.

I just hope I don't die on the way there, because my legs ache, like, really badly. And no, I haven't been exercising, they just start aching when it's cold. I've had this problem since I was a child, and the only thing that helps is if I wear socks and legwarmers, and to sit with my legs underneath a blanket or something else warm. :c

Pictures from weheartit.
Mum told me that you're supposed to be able to see the Northern Lights here tonight, which means I'm now glued to my window, staring at the sky. I hope no one walks by and thinks I'm some kind of lunatic (which I am, but that's another matter entirely)...

I'm going to watch The Carrie Diaries now though, and then I have to let my dreams of seeing the Northern Lights go, if I ever want to finish that stupid religion studies presentation tomorrow. And my poor Christian's ill, which explains why I've been feeling a bit ill yesterday and today. Elizabeth calls it "sympathy sickness," which completely makes sense, because Christian's my other (better) half, and if half you is ill, it's only logical that the other half is ill too, right?

Goodnight to ya'll! If you, by any chance, happen to live in the southwest part of Finland, keep your eyes fixed on the sky!

Two years since...

2013-03-16, at 13:05:00
It's now been exactly two years since I decided to start blogging in English instead of Swedish, and I remember how anxious I was. I was 100% sure that I'd lose all of my readers, and I did lose a few readers, but I've gained a lot of new readers since then. You're the best readers ever, doesn't matter if you've been here from the beginning, or if you just recently found my blog, I love you! <3

Another thing I was anxious about was; Would my English be good enough? I can't say my English was very good back then, but it's definitely improved a lot in these two years, which was ultimately my goal when I started blogging in English, that I'd improve my English. My English isn't yet as relaxed as I'd like it to be, I'm still not familiar with all of the idioms I need et.c, but I can proudly say that my English is a lot better than that of my peers.
I hope ya'll enjoy my blog, even though it's in English, and I just want you to know that you never fail to make my day with your nice comments! I love you this much!

2013-03-15, at 19:34:21
A very tired me this morning.
For some reason I've been feeling ill all day today, tired beyond my normal-tired, I've had a headache all day (that didn't go away with painkillers) and I'm freezing. I was planning on studying all day today after school, but I ended up falling asleep and sleeping for 3-4 hours instead, so Saturday and Sunday will be full of studying for me. Dad said he's going to make me some hot chocolate now though. What a nice life I'm living...
I spent some time with mum, keeping her company downstairs rather than sitting cooped up in my own room, and we watched L.A. Ink together. Kat's bleached her hair, so she's now blonde... I don't think it suits her at all. But I really respect her, she's a strong and independent woman, and she's gorgeous!

What do you think?

2013-03-15, at 10:26:32
This is what goes through my head every time I'm about to post anything related to any of my fandoms. I don't really know if you readers actually like reading about Harry Potter, Merlin, Sherlock, The Hunger Games et.c, but I like writing about it. Every time I'm about to post anything about any youtubers, I'm anxious that people won't bother to watch the video/read the text, because I actually care about amusing you guys.
But then I think "Screw it! It's my blog, I post what I WANT, and if I want to fangirl over Jack and Finn, I will!"
So I really appreciate any comments and any feedback I get, but this is my blog after all, which means I'll post what I want. :)

What I'm actually trying to ask with this post, is what do you think about my fandom-related posts?

Smoking hot.

2013-03-14, at 09:00:14
Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton and Rupert Grint smoking.
I found this picture on a Harry Potter facebook page, and I'm going to copy some of the comments on that picture:

Looks like they are setting bad examples for the youth of the world.
There goes my childhood
So dumb. I just lost my dad in January. Why? Smoking.
Disappointed. Wish they were better role models for kids but then again I guess hp is over.... still too bad tho
Yes, ok, I get it. It's bad to smoke and they're role models to a lot of children all around the world, but smoking doesn't automatically make them bad people. Maybe they have a reason for smoking. They've been in the spotlight for over 10 years now, and there are a lot of worse habits they could have picked up.

What really makes me sad though, is that their very own fandom is hating on them. A lot of people mentioned that they'll stop supporting them now, because they smoke. It's so stupid!
They're human, just like everyone else, and people should stop treating them like they're some kind of gods that have to be perfect all the time.

The Taxi Method.

2013-03-13, at 20:56:38
Yesterday a man called Christoph Treier, who is a mental trainer, came to our school and held a lecture about... well, I don't really know what to call it, but it was basically some form of motivational pep talk, where he taught us how to get to where we want to go in life.
One of the things he told us about was the taxi method. The taxi method means that your mind works like a cabbie; when you set up a goal in life, your mind instantly starts striving and guiding you towards that goal, just like a cabbie does when you give him the address.
What most people do wrong, is that they think about the things they don't want, for example: If it's slippery outside, you usually think that you don't want to slip and fall. What you do then is that you feed your brain an image of you lying on the ground, because your brain can't visualize the word "not." So thinking about what you don't want is about as illogical as telling the cabbie where you don't want to go. It'll get you nowhere!

What you need to do instead is to set up a clear goal, and start working towards that goal, taking small steps at a time (and beginning early, which is something most people seem to have a problem with, and instead they focus too much on the deadline) instead of a giant leap just before the deadline/end.
You also become the most motivated if the chances of reaching your goal are 50/50. If you have more than a 50% chance of reaching your goal, you think that you'll reach it easily and that you don't need to put a lot of effort into it, which usually leaves you with a bad result. If your chances are less than 50%, you automatically give up, because people aren't stupid. There's no use putting all of your energy into something that isn't going to work.
I think Christoph was incredibly inspiring, and he also threw in a lot of funny stories (from his own experiences) into the lecture, which spiced it all up so that it made a bigger impact on you overall. His lecture really got me thinking about my future, and he made me realise that I can actually achieve my goals, if I just put enough effort into it!

It's things like these (not related to the photograph) that remind me of why I'm an introvert, and that I'm much better off alone. It's also things like these that make me realise just how much I hate this town, this country, this language, the people here... everything. There's not a thing I'd miss if I left today, apart from Whiskey and my parents.

A wonderful, wonderful dream.

2013-03-13, at 08:03:40
I’m standing in the enormous Great Hall at Hogwarts alongside many other teenagers. We’re the generation whose Hogwarts letters got lost on the way, and we’re now finally getting to go to Hogwarts.

Although I’ve heard of it before, the enchanted ceiling amazes me, as a light drizzle falls from the ceiling, only to fade before it touches the heads of the many students already seated at the four large tables. One for Gryffindor, one for Hufflepuff, one for Ravenclaw and one for Slytherin.

McGonagall places the sorting hat on a chair, and it starts singing a beautiful song about how Harry Potter defeated the Dark Lord, and the good side won the war.

By now, we’re all excited to get sorted, but I feel very anxious. What if I don’t get into Ravenclaw? What if I end up in Slytherin? I’m 25% snake, after all… But Ravenclaw is where my heart truly belongs!

Finally, McGonagall calls my name. Nervously, I walk up to the chair and sit down, trying to keep my head held high. I can feel the eyes of the whole crowd fixed on me, and I clutch my hands in concentration. There’s only one word going through my head, and that’s “Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw.”

The Sorting Hat is just about to touch my head, when…

*sleepily fumbles for the alarm clock so I can smash it into pieces*

This was my morning yesterday. Guess if I was disappointed when woke up and realised that it was just a dream?

Long distance relationships.

2013-03-12, at 14:34:54
As most of you probably know, I'm in a long distance relationship. In any relationship, communication is vital, and even more so in long distance ones. Because of school and because I've started going to bed earlier nowadays (which means my days are now about 1-2 hours shorter), I've become alot busier than I used to be, which means I have less time to spend online/talking to other people. This also means that I have a lot less time to talk to Christian than I used to have, which leaves me feeling quite guilty...
I managed to stumble upon a great wikihow page on how to make long distance relationships work, and I'm going to list some of my favourite tips from that page:
1. Do things together. Defy the distance. People in short-distance relationships do not spend the majority of their time talking, but rather doing things with each other. Try to replicate this by finding things to do together such as watching a TV show or movie simultaneously.
2. Take advantage of the benefits a long distance relationship offers: more time with friends and/or family, no arguments over toothpaste caps, the pleasure of seeing your sweetheart again after a long absence, time to mull your options (rather than snapping at your partner impulsively) before you respond to that email s/he wrote that seemed so rude the first time you read it, not being dragged into a bunch of chick flicks, etc. Most important, being far apart gives you a chance to maintain your individuality—something that can get lost in the shuffle when couples spend all their free time together.
3. Pursue common interests, even if it means pursuing them apart. If there's a movie you're both interested in seeing, watch it individually and then call each other afterward and talk about it. Read a certain book at the same time. Stargaze while you're on the phone. Find creative ways to bond.
4. Talk about your future together. Assuming that ultimately you'd want to live together, discussing how you're going to get to that point will help you prove to each other that the relationship is going somewhere and that your efforts and frustrations are not in vain.
5. Remember: Things will get better with time, and even the relationship will become better. Have hope.
6. Give them a personal object of yours so in a time of need, when they miss you, they are able to hold on to something that once belonged to you. This will provide comfort, happiness, and the thought of being with you.
I found all of these tips on >this< page, and if you happen to be in a long distance relationship, I hope they'll be of help! :)

After listening to countless interviews with Colin Morgan, I've realised something... I want to learn Irish! Or just learn how to speak with an Irish accent, since Irish is acutally its own language. I just have to learn the Cockney accent first, so that I can talk like a proper Brit. :)

So who knows, maybe I'll be spending my summers in Ireland in the future? I imagine it'd be a fantastic place to write in!

Mel can't paint.

There was a terrible smell in half of our school today, because some dumbass put some milk in the refrigerator last week (I think) and left it there, not noticing that the fridge wasn't plugged in... Yummy...
There was also a creepy guy taking pictures of students in the school cafeteria today (I'm pretty sure I ended up on at least 5 of those pictures), he also interviewed two people. My school's starting to feel a bit like Hogwarts, there's always something strange going on. :)

(Anne Hathaway's teeth annoyed me, though, because although they had tried to make them look dirty, you could still see her Hollywood-white teeth at the back of her mouth)

Ulrik's definitely my favourite in Melodifestivalen, and I hope that he'll win tonight! He has such an interesting voice, with a hint of roughness, as if it's almost about to break. Tell The World I'm Here also sounds a bit like Andreas Johnson's music, which I love!
I think Anton has a strong chance of winning though, his song fits the Eurovision Song Contest perfectly, and his stunning good looks would help a lot too.

Another one of his songs, San Francisco Says Hello, which is the most wonderful song ever!

If I had an iPhone...

2013-03-08, at 12:13:50
All of the cases are from Redbubble, just tell me if you want the link to any of them.
If I had an iPhone, I'd buy all of these cases. I'm not a fan of Apple, and I don't want an iPhone, but it really annoys me that there are millions of cases available for iPhones, and almost none for other mobiles. I've managed to find one case for my Samsung Galaxy Note, and it's a clear plastic one, which is terribly ugly.
I think the coolest one out of the bunch I just posted is probably the Marauder's Map case, or the Sherlock one with the view of London! Only a fraction of the fandoms I'm a part of are represented here, and somehow I ended up choosing mostly Sherlock cases.'s an amazing page where you can buy prints on hoodies, t-shirts, tops, pullovers, and even iPhone cases. It's a bit like Etsy, where peoplen have their own "shops" where they sell their prints. If you're not familiar with the page yet, you should definitely check it out. You can find almost any print you want, just make sure you read the comments (if there are any) to make sure that the print isn't smaller/larger than on the picture and that there's nothing funny going on.

Jennifer is actually very skinny, and that she's considererd obese in Hollywood proves just how fudged up our world actually is. Jen's a proper role model for children, and I'm so glad it was her who played Katniss in the Hunger Games, since it's a film that affects a lot of people.

Extraterrestrial life, real or not?

2013-03-05, at 19:22:39
I discovered that drawing on my Galaxy Note is actually kind of fun...
I wrote an essay about intelligent extraterrestrial life, and whether I think extraterrestrials exist or not. This is something my mum is very passionate about, and she's always been telling me about aliens and showing me documentaries about them, so I felt like this was the topic I knew the most about.
Personally, I don't believe in crop circles, because I believe aliens would have better things to do than to draw patterns in our crop. I also don't think that aliens are evil and want to exterminate us (like they're portrayed in most Hollywood movies), and I think that's just how we would treat extraterrestrial life if we stumbled upon them.
I also believe that aliens know we exist, because they're probably that intelligent, but they just don't see any benefits in contacting us. One thing is certain, if they were here right now, we'd know. And it wouldn't be because of some silly crop circles.

1 challenge, 8 confessions, 5 nominations.

2013-03-03, at 19:36:48
Anna nominated me for a blogchallenge where I'm supposed to write 8 confessions about myself, which took me some time to put together, but I'm done now. Anna's an amazing blogger, who is very interested in movies. She works as a director and a personal assistant, and makes movies of her own. Her blog's also filled with a lot of humour, and it's a great place to look if you're looking for a nice movie to watch! She's also a fellow redhead! ;)
1. I used to think I wanted to become a lawyer, because they make a lot of money, but then I realised that life is too short to think only about money and not about your own happiness.

2. I was completely obsessed with Sex and the City about a year or two ago, which made me think I wanted to live in New York, and I also started to act like Carrie a bit.

3. When I’m texting/chatting with someone, and I use smileys, I usually do the smileys in real life too without thinking about it. Which means I’m sitting there going like :) :/ :c :s :D :3 D: Not very attractive, and people probably think I’m a psycho or something.

4. I actually like Justin Bieber. I mean, I’m not a Belieber, but I think some of his songs are quite good and he’s very handsome. I really don’t get why people are so insistent on hating him.

5. An enormous pet peeve of mine is when girls wear heels that are much too high for them, when they really can’t walk in them. I mean, if you’re going to wear heels, you need to know your limits, because some people just can’t walk in 16 cm heels. Also, practice walking at home before you leave the house, I’m begging you!

6. I am ridiculously spoiled, I really can’t cook (without setting anything on fire or making the kitchen look as if a bomb exploded in there) and I don’t think I’ve ever even touched a washing machine... Do I have to mention I’m going to die when I move away from home?

7. All my life, I’ve lived in a small town with a population of ~12.000 people. Add to that my poor sense of direction and you can easily figure out what a shock London will be to me.

8. This is something I’ve mentioned before, but it’s very important. I’m an introvert, which means that I have a “social battery,” and that whenever I’m around people, it drains my “battery” and after a while I’m really not fun to be around. I need at least a few hours to myself every day, otherwise I’ll become grumpier than the grumpy cat.
The people I nominate for this challenge are:
1. Victoria, she's my fellow blogger-buddy, she has impeccable taste in clothes (and men, and hair, and music, and just about everything), and her blog's filled with wonderfully inspirational pictures! She also has a kind of alternative style, so if you're into that, then you should definitely check out her blog!
2. Naima, she's an 18-year-old girl from my town who loves fashion and photography, and she's Rihanna's Official Ambassador in Sweden (how cool is that?!). She blogs about fashion for men, and in her blog you can also read a lot about her thoughts and other wonderful things. Her blog's filled with gorgeous photographs, and it's definitely worth reading!
3. Joy, she's a 19-year-old girl who blogs about anything and everything. The most important thing for her is to spread happiness and love, and her blog is full of wonderful pictures and helpful tips. Her design is one of the most gorgeous designs I've ever seen, and Joy herself is a real beauty!
4. Madeleine, she blogs about fashion, a lot. Her outfits are always very inspiring, and Madeleine is very beautiful. She sure knows a lot about fashion, and knows which trends to follow.
5. Carolina, she runs the biggest emo/scene blog in Skåne, she's a gamer chick and she loves the Black Veil Brides. She also posts a lot about alternative fashion and inspirational pictures. Lately she's also posted some great advice on important issues, which I really admire her for! Definitely worth a read!
